There’s a new road for riders in Singapore, the Tanah Merah Coast Road. It’s a new road that hugs the coastline of Changi, in the east of Singapore. It’s a wide road of 2 to 3 lanes each way.
What’s new in Singapore is the dedicated bicycle lane on each side of the road. In addition to that, there is another bicycle lane running next to the road. This is a boon, and a great safety feature for the many cyclists who ride this road on the weekend. It’s a longer ride compared to the Changi Coast Road.
You can see nice trees along some stretches of the road. Views of the sea is limited to parts nearer to the north.
One thing lacking is the place a the side of the road for stopping or breakdown. And carparks. Watch out for the 3 speed cameras along the road.
An old familiar road, the Changi Coast Road, which runs parallel to the Changi Airport runway, and offers great views of aircraft taking off and landing is now closed.
